Eric Eason had a vision to open and own a local surf shop in Garden City South Carolina. In 1969 his vision became a reality and Village Surf Shoppe was started. He met a young teen named Kelly Richards that had just moved from Arkansas. Kelly was instantly drawn to the local surf scene. His first board came from Village, and like many of the Garden City groms he used to hang out in the surf shop. In the early 80s he decided he wanted to shape and Perfection Surfboards was started. Kelly sold boards to Eric and started making custom boards for the shop. Eric offered the shop to Kelly in the 80's and as they say the rest is history. He has been carrying Eric's legacy ever since. Kelly has two sons Cam and Cole Richards. If you surf you probably know both of his sons. Cam is a professional surfer and is one of the best in the world. Cole has won tons of East Coast comps and titles and works for Oakley. We are the longest running surf shop along the Grand Strand, but Village is more than just a surf shop. We are a family that cares about our community and it is part of our mission to always give back. This is our 50 year anniversary and we would love to meet you or see you again. So if you're in town stop by and check us out and be a part of surfing history.
